Once you register your domain with BergeHost, it becomes active immediately and stays active for the duration of your registration — usually 1 year. If you don’t renew your domain before the expiry date, it moves into a grace period (typically 40 days). During this period, your website and email may stop working, but you can still renew your domain with incured late fee(s). After the grace period, your domain enters a redemption state — meaning it’s been removed from the active registry but can still be recovered. At this stage, the registry charges a redemption recovery fee, in addition to the normal renewal fee. Domain Redemption Fee – $75 or more as it varies (or USD equivalent) + Domain Renewal Fee. If the domain is not renewed or recovered during redemption, it moves into the Pending Delete phase. Here, the domain cannot be renewed or restored anymore — it’s scheduled to be deleted from the global registry. Once the domain is deleted, it becomes available to the public again — meaning anyone can register it, including competitors or domain resellers.
